Several weeks ago I started walking the dogs out at Discovery Park early in the morning before it gets too hot. It’s a nice walk, we start at the Glen Meadows Park and walk a little over 1 ½ miles round trip. We usually see cottontails, jack rabbits and quail and I’ve seen snake tracks a few times but luckily no snakes yet. There are frogs and a duck and for a while, there was a crane, in the pond. There is also a family of Long Eared owls. I almost always see at least one of them in the cottonwoods by the benches where we stop for a drink of water. We’ve even seen javelina on Sunday evenings when we take the grandkids out for a walk.

So today, I was walking along looking out at the dead tree in the pond to see if one of the owls is there when I hear a loud CRACK! I look at the trees up ahead of me and see a branch falling out of one of the cottonwoods at the side of the pond. Then I hear a weird sound that ended up being a bear sliding out of the tree. It hit the ground and took off running like its tail was on fire! Thankfully in the opposite direction! Wow! He was so fast I didn’t have time to take a picture! What an adventure!

I've been working on these!

And these!

I've also read some good books!  Celebrity in Death by J.D. Robb, Hunger Games by Stephanie Collins (couldn't put this one down), Lucky Stiff  by Deborah Coonts (almost as good as Janet Evanovich),  The Christopher Pepper Chronicles:  The Silver Soda by Chad Campbell, and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs (very different!).
I also listened to some good books.  I Am Half Sick of Shadows by Allen Bradley (love this series!!!  This is one you just have to listen to!), Storm Prey by John Sandford and Night Monster by James Swain (very good!)
Right this very minute I'm listening to The Dog Who Knew Too Much by Spencer Quinn.  It's hilarious hearing the "dog's" side of the story.
I've become a great fan of Pinterest and I love listening to Slacker!

I've been reading a lot lately and we went to see One For the Money and The Woman in Black.  Enjoyed both of them.  I hope they make more of Janet Evanovich's books into movies!
I really enjoyed reading The Silent Girl by Tess Gerritsen.  Can't wait for the next Rizzoli and Isles book!  I'm listening to Map of Bones by James Rollins.  It's pretty exciting!  I also enjoyed Damaged by Alex Kava and Somebody Tell Aunt Tille She's Dead by Christiana Miller.
Speaking of books!  A friend showed me one I want to add to my collection.  Floral Stitches by Judity Montano.
I have been stumbling on StumbleUpon.  What an awesome site but very addictive!  So is Pinterest!  I found this and just had to have it for my owl collection!!!

These are the owls that started my collection many years ago!

I've also been quilting.  I finished 3 more Quilted Diamonds blocks.

I'm also working on a butterfly wall hanging and I've got half of the next green paper-pieced block done.   Now!  Back to work!!!
